CHARLOTTE, N.C., OCTOBER 16, 2019 — Belk celebrated the grand opening of its newest store in Mansfield, Texas, today by welcoming its new neighbors to get a first-hand look at the new space. The celebration was marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony that included dignitaries and elected officials from local municipalities. The new store is part of Belk’s $100 million investment over the past three years to open and refresh stores with a renewed customer experience.

The new store, located at 1683 E Broad St., is bringing more than 50 jobs to Mansfield, including full and part-time positions for selling and support associates. The store features more than 67,000 square feet of retail space and includes Belk’s most popular brands for the whole family including Lego, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi, Champion, Brahmin, Michael Kors and Under Armour.   

In addition to updated fixtures and vibrant decor throughout the store, customers will enjoy an enhanced shopping experience including central checkout, a collection of fine jewelry, and perhaps most exciting for customers, an Amazon Hub Counter where customers can pick up their Amazon packages for free directly from Belk.

“With the retail industry constantly evolving, it is so important to continue to develop new ways to deliver the best experience for our customers,” said Lisa Harper, Belk CEO. “We believe our new store provides everything customers want in a go-to shopping destination, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with our Mansfield neighbors.”   

Since opening its doors 130 years ago, Belk has been committed to supporting its neighbors by giving back to local organizations who make a difference in their communities. To carry on that legacy, Belk announced today it is  partnering with KaBOOM! to build a brand new, interactive playground at R.F. Patterson Elementary, a title 1 school serving more than 450 students. Belk will make a $120,000 donation to fully fund the project in order provide a safe and creative space for students to play.

The new Mansfield location marks the fourth grand opening for Belk in the past three years – Evans, Georgia, in October 2017, Bowling Green, Kentucky, in October 2017 and Hagerstown, Maryland, in October 2018. The $100 million investment in the new store openings and revamp of existing stores is centered around providing an enhanced customer experience and improving technology to support omnichannel growth.

Belk invites the community to continue the celebrations at a family-fun Fall Festival at the Mansfield store on Saturday, October 19 from 12 to 3 p.m. Families will enjoy a scavenger trick-or-treat hunt, bouncy house, music and more.
