King of Pops, known for unique popsicles, and Belk, a 130-year-old department store, are uniting in a promotion that will result in the donation of back-to-school outfits to children at the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs in 10 Southern cities.

Belk department stores are expanding their private label offerings in all departments this fall, with a focus on the chain’s Southern roots.

Belk surprised recent Rolesville High School graduate Brooke Parrish with balloons, flowers and a $500 shopping spree at the Crabtree Valley Mall location in Raleigh on Thursday.

Thanks to the DACA program, Veronica Ramirez graduated as a designer from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Although the opportunity that catapulted her to stardom was a contest she won with Belk, she says she owes all of her success to her family.

Belk is giving its shoppers a new way to earn rewards.

The family-run department store retailer is expanding its relationship with consumer financial services company Synchrony, to launch the new Belk Rewards Mastercard. The partners already offer a private-label store card tied to the Belk Rewards loyalty program.
