A line of customers spilled from the doors into the parking lot at Belk in Shelby Wednesday morning. Regular and occasional customers showed up during the store’s grand re-opening to receive prizes and see the newly renovated store. The first 100 customers received gift cards ranging from $5 to $500 and 25 percent off their purchase.

The Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia is on the receiving end of 200 back-to-school outfits. The club hosted a party on Cherry Avenue on Monday, September 17, to celebrate the donation from Belk's Project Hometown. The donation is part of a promotion with King of Pops to have Belk customers return the most Popsicle sticks in 10 cities.

Belk surprised recent Rolesville High School graduate Brooke Parrish with balloons, flowers and a $500 shopping spree at the Crabtree Valley Mall location in Raleigh on Thursday.

Thanks to the DACA program, Veronica Ramirez graduated as a designer from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Although the opportunity that catapulted her to stardom was a contest she won with Belk, she says she owes all of her success to her family.

Belk is giving its shoppers a new way to earn rewards.

The family-run department store retailer is expanding its relationship with consumer financial services company Synchrony, to launch the new Belk Rewards Mastercard. The partners already offer a private-label store card tied to the Belk Rewards loyalty program.

On Saturday, April 21, Kelly Freese, Belk store manager at Oglethorpe Mall, presented
a check for $20,000 to Family Promise of Greater Savannah--an organization marking 20 years of helping local families transition out of homelessness.

On Thursday Jaime Valdez, Belk Regional Vice President announced to juniors and senior that Belk will be picking up the bill for their prom as part of the department store's outreach program, Belk: Project Hometown.

This is the first time Eau Claire students will not have to fundraise to be able to attend their own prom, 60 percent of the students at the Title I school have not been able to afford the high costs of the event.

"Fifteen million (dollars) over five years is what Belk is committed to giving, but we hope to double and triple that."

In addition to its Habitat for Humanity partnership, Belk is ironing out agreements with two additional organizations for the program that will be announced in early 2018.
