Behind the Brand

Belk Partners with The Salvation Army on Hurricane Relief

As Hurricane Florence approached the East Coast and threatened dozens of the communities we serve, we kept the safety of our associates and customers as our top priority. The storm ended up affecting 37 stores with ten stores remaining closed Monday, September 17.

We’re continuing to work with one of our Belk: Project Hometown national partners – The Salvation Army – to aid in the relief effort. Last week, we donated $100,000 to support The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Relief efforts, including mobile feeding units that will provide food, hydration, clean-up kits, and hygiene supplies to first responders and survivors. We also provided The Salvation Army access to Belk store parking lots as rallying locations for their mobile feeding units, as needed. Customers have been supporting others all weekend through a donation link for The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Relief efforts on Belk.com, emails and all of our social channels.

In addition, we've been deploying aid for associates via our associate disaster relief fund. Charlotte's corporate office, and Belk stores, are hosting donation drives to gather necessary items. You can get involved, too! Give back through a text-to-give campaign where Belk will match donations. It's as simple as texting belkgives to 51555.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
